Coming into Bloom: The Flower Shed's Lifestyle Podcast
Updated: Jan 5
Host Lisa Biles, and her co-host Caitlynne Youmans started on a new venture this past week--podcasting. Whether you are into true crime, health and wellness, or flowers, there is a podcast out there for you! Coming into Bloom is a fun and friendly lifestyle podcast that touches on farming, marriage and families, and fun stories and games that will keep you wanting more.

Why a podcast?
Lisa, owner of The Flower Shed and Rolling Branch Farms was inspired by her friend Cristy from Live to Give Podcast. Cristy made the decision with her husband Kent to start Live to Give in order to donate $100 to two listeners per month who write in and explain why they want or need this money. The couple then share their listener's story on their podcast and gift them with the money. LTG is a podcast "designed to spread joy and put a smile on your face," according to host Cristy.

Lisa listened to the mission behind LTG Podcast and was so moved by it, that she was willing to take this step and make a podcast of her own. Lisa's husband Brent Biles has been a guest podcaster for few different podcasts in the past and has always encouraged Lisa to start one for their farm. LTG was the last push she needed to get the ball rolling on this venture. One thing Lisa noticed when starting her flower farm over four years ago was the lack of transparency about how difficult flower farming is in south Georgia and across the United States. Often, she would watch flower farmers only discuss the easy and fun parts of farming and never touch on their true hardships and experiences. "I felt like we should do this because this is definitely a raw and uncut sit-down with us... pulling the curtain back a little bit on our personal lives and the business," mentions Lisa in Episode 1. We hope that this adventure shows the truth about farming--not only flowers but the other things we grow at Rolling Branch Farms. It is not all butterflies and rainbows, and we are ready to show that this is totally normal and okay.

Who are the hosts?
Lisa Biles is the owner of The Flower Shed and Rolling Branch Farms and serves as the host of Coming into Bloom. Lisa is a millennial boy-mom of two kiddos and has two beagle pups Rosie and Bailey. She loves flower farming, podcasts, and reality TV shows. Lisa oversees all operations at both farms as the CEO, but is hardly an office girly in reality. Most of her "9-5" time is spent in the fields planting, maintaining, and harvesting. Caitlynne Youmans is the co-host of Coming into Bloom and works at the farm as their Brand Manager. She is in charge of both farm's social media accounts like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest. Caitlynne also writes all of the email newsletters, blog posts, and is likely the one messaging you when you reach out to or engage with our social media accounts! Caitlynne is a fur-mom and has two big dogs and a sweet tabby cat. She is a senior agriculture communications major at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and loves horror movies and shows, podcasts, and Halloween! Lisa and Caitlynne share a lot of characteristics like being blonde and talkative. They both love true crime podcasts and aimlessly scrolling on TikTok for hours on end. But one of their biggest differences is their age--Lisa being old enough to be Caitlynne's mom! This generational gap is sure to bring you joy as they discuss how different their stages of lives are and what this looks like for them both.

What should I expect?
You can expect to hear us in your feed every Monday with a new episode. As time wears on, we will have special guests on Coming into Bloom like Lisa's family, a podcaster friend, and other farmers in our industry. Each week will feature a few of the same segments: quote of the week, generational differences between millennials and gen-z, and games like Name 5. But, the majority of the episode will include different stories about our lives, interests, and the farm! Plus, you can always guarantee Lisa's signature "Hey Y'all" at the beginning of each episode. Coming into Bloom as a podcast is doing exactly what the title suggests--blooming. Truthfully, we are not sure what this podcast will become and are so excited to share this experience with each of you. A quote from one of Lisa and Caitlynne's favorite reality TV shows, Big Brother, says it best, "expect the unexpected." Bloom with us as we undertake this new venture and platform for our farm!
